I’m Cindy Powell and I’m very excited to be joining the team at Grace as Justice. As of the September issue, I’ll be transitioning into the role of Senior Editor. I often refer to myself as a simple girl with simple faith. My desire is to love God and love people well. A big part of that means being faithful to use the gifts God has given me for the purposes He has set before me. That, in a nutshell, is what has led me to take on this new challenge.

I have long desired to have greater impact in the fight against human trafficking. As many who read and contribute to GAJ know, once you have glimpsed the nightmare experienced by those trapped in the living hell of modern-day slavery—particularly those exploited in the sex trade—looking away isn’t an option. You need to do what you can.

This is me doing what I can. I am thrilled to be able to contribute toward educating, empowering, and inspiring others to do what they can. None of us can do everything, but we can all do something. Some statistics indicate that as few as 1% of all human trafficking victims are rescued, but together we can change that statistic and eradicate this gross injustice.

I’m so grateful for the great foundation Rachael has established. While I’m sure there will be many changes in the days ahead, the heart and purpose of GAJ will remain the same. I look forward with expectation that our impact will become even greater. In order to do that, my first priority is to increase exposure and circulation. I would greatly appreciate any help getting the word out! Increasing circulation will:

a) Give more exposure to the great organizations that contribute; and

b) Better position GAJ to be attractive to advertisers

Here are some very simple ways you can help us increase circulation:

I also hope to post on this blog a bit more frequently–at least once a month.  So stay tuned!

We need to make our voices heard on behalf of the ones whose voices have been silenced. They can’t speak out, but we can. We can and we must.

Everyone deserves to be free. I hope you’ll join me as we continue the fight.
